Report

Rutherford welcomed Blyth Town for a bottom of the table clash with both teams not having a win in 5 games.

Rutherford started the brightest and on 3 min Armstrong forced the keeper in to a save after a weak back pass from the defender.

Blyth had their first real chance on 11 when Kilner was forced in to a save and Wood managed to clear from the line.

Ford then took the lead on 30 mins when Keenan was hauled down on the edge of the box, R McGill stepped up and as the wall all jumped he struck the ball underneath them and then the keeper let it go through his legs to trickle in. 1-0

4 mins later though a mix-up between Hay and Kilner let the forward in to lob the ball in 1-1

H-T 1-1

Rutherford should have taken the lead on 46 when Dodds skipped 2 challenges then was brought down in the box. Hay stepped up and seen his pen saved.

It was very costly as Blyth had the lead on 50 when they go it behind and rolled the ball in to the net. And then on 60 a long throw in to the box wasn’t dealt with and was headed in for 3-1

Rutherford just couldn’t cope with Blyths constant aerial play as they lobbed them high from every position on the pitch all game, but this tactic seemed to work for them, although horrible to watch.

Ford then had to play the last 15 with 10 when Gray came off injured before the game was soured in the last minute when the “small man syndrome” big mouth up top decided to let his arms fly and was issued a yellow card.
